Cardiothoracic surgeon Dr. Bhagwan Koirala has saved hearts of many people by operation or by medicinal referrals and also by providing medical advice to many different patients. Dr. Koirala is recognized as trust center for heart patients in Nepal. He is best known for pioneering open heart surgery in Nepal since 1997 February 27, which results to the countless examples for protection of heart. He always attempted to protect many hearts, but what actually Dr. Koirala does to protect his own heart may be the most curious question for everyone.
Always our questions used to focus on heart diseases and heath sector, but this time we asked, “What do you do to care your own heart?” Perhaps he didn’t even expect that someday I may need to answer such question. Evergreen body of Dr. Koirala reflects he has kept his health on high priority. He has been playing badminton for long years to remain healthy, which gradually became his habit. Playing badminton for longer time has created some problems in his feet, so he shifted towards table tennis. I will do something for my morning exercise, says Dr. Koirala.
He mentioned that he has to some exercise once a day even in his busy schedule. This habit has been embedded in his lifestyle in such a way, that he feels tired if he doesnt does some exercises. He has his own way of eating, ” I eat everthing but in the proper amount as per the requriement” says Dr. Koirala. He gives more priority to green vegetables. He gives special attention when eating raw fruits and sladas. He doesnt takes food until it’s washed properly. Whenever he gets, green vegetables he eats it raw after washing it by hot water.
We can follow his lifestyle to keep our heart healthy for long time period. But after 50, he suggest to give more care on exercise and some reduction on eating habits. He counseled to develop a good eating habits by making proper choice on green vegetables and to eat only clean foods.
